Well likewise if this is to Kim its probably silly to put in a general life update but oh well, I'm doing it anyway. After a good month + being at home not doing anything at all with the exception of a few day/overnight trips, I'm actually getting ready to move on from a life of nothingness. The beach in mid-june was incredible, but coming back from that was pretty dull with like two weeks of doing seriously nothing but sitting on the couch watching the degrassi marathon. ANyway I got a job working for a law firm in dc that does mostly lobbying for as the guy I interviewed described it, "anyone who wants to do good in the world." Basically a lot of health care, some universities, but really anyone, a native american tribe, some random things. I'm mostly going to be doing administrative stuff at least at first, but seems fairly interesting.
Fourth of july weekend was awesome, I went down to DC and had lots of fun adventures in georgeotwn and aroudn the city. Friday night they do a rehearsal of the big concert they do on the mall on the 4th, and its free and basically the exact same thing except no fireworks at the end and not the millions of people, so if you're around next year, I highly recommend it. Plus some adams morgan adventures and tim's law firm taking us out for big slice at 2am, pretty sweet. On the 4th it was mostly wandering between barbeques and grilling ourselves, visiting gugs and irc, and then heading up to lxr rooftops for the fireworks. Evidently they are renovating the entire building, but since securitas isnt super bright, they didnt seem to notice that zach (who is living in vcw this summer so his gocard still works) signed us all into derek's old room. Lots of people in 321 that night...Anyway we proceeded to set up revolutionary war beer pong, complete with the arrival of the french and bad odds for the americans. Sadly we'll never know how the war would end b/c some stupid hall director decided drinking was bad. Fireworks were sweet, the people left, and we started up flip cup for awhile until the evil lady came back, at which point we went to tombs. Beautiful day celebrating america's freedom.
Friday also was spent apartment hunting, as was yesterday, both of which were fairly frustrating endeavors as me and Tash watched our beautiful dreams of cheap dupont apartments disappear into flames. It seems like everything is either just above our price range, in a basement, sort of old/dirty, or out of the neighborhoods we actually wanted to be in. But theres a cool apartment in a really nice building in Chinatown, also very fun, if a little less quiet than dupont. And on the upside, we'll be able to have the pre/post game for all basketball games :) Itll be a nice change of pace being able to walk to the games...
SO moral of the story is, I start work next week, and at least for now I'm commuting from home. Which will seriously suck. And I really dont know what to expect out of working, but itll be nice to be moving forward with something, if that makes sense. And its weird that this time of nothingness will be done, but nice at the same time. ANd hopefully things will work out with this apartment, so I can move in fairly soon. And then life post-grad in dc can begin :) And will be taking any and all visitors at any time...
